I have a small ritter grip in s30. I am noticing rust freckles around the thumbstud area where it can not be readily wiped or oiled just how rust proof is stone washed is s30? How to remove? Would acid wash finish prevent this? Thanks Dave

S30v is very rust resistant. Remove it with a dremel and brass wire, or steel wool. Just keep it oiled and you'll never have a problem

I think the acid wash might remove the initial rust go away.. but because s30 is so corrosion resistant it will be hard to get a good deep acid wash.. this is just solely based off of my thoughts not actual evidence though, so don't take it as the gospel!! It is probably just surface spots anyways that your seeing around your thumbstud..

I've a got a Ritter mini that's had the same issue. Mine was definitely surface rust. It came off with some DW-40 and a Blue ScotchBrite scrubbing pad. I had to take off the thumb stud so I could really clean it. Wiped it down with Tuff Cloth and it's been fine.

The acid wash will actually make it more rust prone, not less. It happened with my son's Rift in 154CM. It never rusted at all until after the acid etch/stonewash I did on it. Now he has to watch it to keep surface rust from forming.
