Rust on the inside of a folding knife.

Try spraying the area with WD-40. Let it sit for awhile and the rub the area with a toothpick or any soft material that will not scratch the knife. Blow out and repeat. If its very light this should clean it up. When done lightly oil. This will do the least damage to the surface.

Yes, a little WD-40 soak will loosen it up. I've done this occasionally by liberally spraying down the knife, wrapping it in a couple layers of paper towel which is also saturated w/WD-40, then put that into a zip-loc bag for a while (keeps the WD-40 from drying up too fast). Afterwards, flush it again with WD-40 (a lot of the dissolved rust should come out), then give the whole knife a bath in hot water & dish soap (Dawn/Ivory/Palmolive/etc). Dry everything out, then lube as needed.

A wooden 'popsicle stick', with a rag or paper towel wrapped around it, works well for scrubbing out the blade well of the knife. Could also use this in conjunction with the WD-40. Also a decent way to lightly sand/polish the inside of the liners, with some wet/dry sandpaper wrapped around the stick.

Wd40 took the kraton handles off last time...

Ah, the solvent will do that. Didn't know that one had kraton. In that case, maybe just use some mineral oil (no solvent), OR just scrub the rust spots while washing in hot water + dish soap. Another possibility, use some polishing paste (Flitz/Simichrome) with a stick & rag such as suggested earlier. Polishing paste will easily remove rust. If the rust is light, just a tiny amount should do. Rub a dot of paste into the rag, then scrub with that. That'll minimize how much paste will be leftover inside the knife; shouldn't take much additional cleanup.
