S I took my r10 and KLUVK out camping last weekend and left them out overnight. Unfortunatly it pored that night and when I got up in the morning they had already started to rust. What is the best way to remove the rust from them?

Thanks

For light surface rust wd40 and a paper towel work just fine. If its a little heavier use Flitz or Weanol metal polish and a cotton rag. Going beyond that use 600 grit sandpaper and some light oil.

Flitz and a cotton rag has worked well for me. It's been my experience that even on a highly polished blade it removes rust or tarnish without spoiling the surrounding polished surface. That would go double for a satin finish "villager" knife.

One thing I've found by painful experience: Be very careful rubbing Flitz or any other polish near the point or edge. Best thing is to wrap the cotton cloth around a piece of sponge or wood, so you can rub hard without endangering your fingers.

It would be good to see some before and after photos, if that's not inconvenient for you.

Hopefully none of that orange-nasty is inside your sheathes?

Are you trying to avoid removing patina? If that's not a concern, a little rub of Mothers, the stuff you use on chrome, in gentle circle motions will remove all the rust. In a good quantity, it will take it all the way back down to your former finest polish.

If you don't want to remove patina, the best I've been able to do is a little stone slurry in mineral oil.

Scotch brite pad for a working knife. It will put tiny scratches on a mirror finish and change it over time to satin. The finish will evolve anyway with a working knife, unless you spend lots of time maintaining it.

I've used "The Must For Rust" to take some medium rust off my WWII. It turned it a grey patina, which I don't really care for, but it did get the rust off without much trouble.

why don't you try the rust eraser ?? it is meant to remove rust. after that you need to get the tuff cloth. it will put a barrier on you knife blade so it will not rust in the future. When it wears off you will have to reply it again.
