I have a Kershaw Needs Work, and rust spots are beginning to make appearances on the body of the blade but not the edge, this is probably because after using it i may have not rinsed, or cleaned it correctly.

My Kershaw blade steel is 14C28N, I have tried WD-40, but it really only faded the color of the rust, yet I want to know how to remove it in effort to maintain the blade's quality.

How would I
-Remove these small spots of rust without ruining finish
-Correctly clean my knife after use
-Polish Finish

Welcome to the forums. Try using any type of metal polish, IE: Flitz, Peek, Mothers Chrome polish, etc. These will remove the rust and protect the finish. Clean up is easy, just wipe off the blade after use. If it has come into contact with acidic materials hit it with a dab of germX gel or similar and wipe off. The only thing I would use the WD40 for is to flush the pivot area with, it is not good for much else. Lube it with CLP break-free, Rem oil, or 3 in 1. All are available at Wally World. There are better lubes but these work well and are easy to find. The main thing is to wipe it down and touch up the edge at the end of a days use.

A lot of knives that are bead-blast finished seem to be a magnet for small rust spots.
Spray some WD-40 on the blade and remove the rust with fine steel wool.
A bit of metal polish will prevent further rusting. I prefer Farécla G3 but just about any polish will do.

welcome to the forum, miracle cloth is good as well as flitz, if you are going to be cutting edibles soon i wash & dry blade 1st.

I've got one of those cheapo red shop rags that's soaked in WD-40 and RemOil that I use to wipe everything down with before storing...but I thought Kershaw was trying to alleviate the rusting issues with this new steel, what gives?

Thank you for all the info, where would i find metal polishes, my local hardware store or car detailing shop, or should i venture online? And thank you again who wrote on this post, I'm glad that every1 has been so helpful with my problem.

When I bought this knife I bought it for the resistance for the corrosion, and the easy sharpening capability. But I have been recently wondering why rust spots have been appearing on the blade. So i am going to start a new thread reviewing 14C28N. I think that it would be a good idea to start a thread in guiding someone in the experience in this new sadvik metal.
