rust resistance?

yeah i know infi is a carbon steel and i have never had a blade rust or discolor but if i was to order a mrs with satin finish to carry iwb could this cause some problems with the constant exposure to body sweat?

Well, yes and no. I sweat all over the ones I carry (coated and double cut), but use S-L-I on the flats and if any rust appears on the edge it is easily stropped away. I'm not that big a fanatic about it. I WILL check about once a week, usually. LOL Like my buddy says, 'if it don't rust, it ain't real'. You ought to see the Randall his Dad gave him back in the 60's, no mistaking it for a safe queen.

I have an satin finished AD I have carried nearly everyday since they were introduced. I have experienced very little rusting or discoloration if any. I have experienced more on my DCBB blades than the satin ones. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.
 
:D I probably ought to add that the occasional oiling doesn't hurt. I like to use Marine Tuff cloth sometimes too, especially in the summer. I, like Rob, am not fanatical about oiling it or anything.
 
I'm really suprised that the BB would be more prone than the satin. My AD is BB, but then again I really don't carry a satin. No slam or anything, just happens none of my EDC's are satin. Do love the AD though. The other 2 are an older MS and a SHBA. Love those Busse's that are small enough to carry in public.

I have a DCBB AD that I carry a lot also, when I don't have the other AD or another Busse on. It seems to do nearly as well as the satin. I am sure it just depends on the individual knife and the body chemistry of the guy sweating on it.
 
I think you hit the nail on the head. I have a buddy that could rust wood. :eek:
If he plays my guitar I have to immediately clean the strings or they will be corroded the next day. No, he doesn't touch my knives. :D
