Yesterday has been a torrid day here…. I think 35 celsius or something like this…. I have been carried all day my benchmade 710 in D2 in my back pocket, like always, except I was sweating a lot. In the evening I noticed some minor rust spots on the left side of the blade.

Do you guys have had any problems like that with D2? How can I clean them out? Fine sandpaper, gritting stone, chemical compounds …. ?!? suggestions please…

It is not a big issue NOW as the rust spots are fairy small, but I would like to keep on EDCing the 710 for the rest of the summer…

Darn, I should have bought the TufCloth when I had the chance. My 710 rusted after my friend cut some raw tri-tip and forgot to wipe it clean. Many small rust spots now.

W/ the 0000 steel, should i rub in circles in the area, or do sweeping motions over a large surface of the blade to smooth it out?

I use a sponge with Mothers Mag polish in it to clean my knives with scratches or blemishes like rust, gives em a nice shine without being mirrors.

Bar Keepers Friend, mixed with a little water, can take rust off by just gently rubbing it over the spots with your finger. You have to dilute it though, or else it'll leave scratches on your blade.
