I recently stripped my TGLB, but I regrettably haven't gotten down to those last grits of sandpaper. Anyways, I used my knife to chop some branches to use as traction for my friend's car, which was stuck in the snow. After we got him out, I neglected to dry my blade. I just took it out of it's sheath today and it was covered in rust. I panicked and sanded it off before taking any pictures, so I can't show you guys. How can I prevent this from happening?

You had not yet removed the "decarb" layer and it is this that has rusted and not the actual blade steel. If you search "decarb" in this forum there are many such threads... :)

Indeed -- this mystical mysterious creature named Andy is correct --- you and you're blade of glory are safe. As a responsible practice -- oil your blade after use -- the rest can be left to the will of the INFI gods

And use mineral oil if you use the blade for food prep. Safer than consuming Hoppe's...Cheers.

Only some of the blades have decarb under the coating. I find it depends often on the grind.

Satin does not ruse for me.

Stripped flat grind, ditto. I have swam, canoed, boated, etc and never had any rust on stripped flat ground knives in INFI.

Once you have cleaned the decade off, the rust issue should go away.

I have found INFI to be more rust resistant than some of many of my stainless blades.

what kind of sheath (leather, nylon kydex ?)and was the blade wet from the snow ?

Dont everybody be so quick to call de-carb, INFI will rust if given the proper conditions :)
