A rustic knife, made for my brother in law.
He wanted a nice knife, sturdy, for several tasks from the sea to the hills.
And also he is was focused on performance rather than rust.
O2 steel is oaky for this tasks...

Blade in O2 steel, 3,6mm thick, 9cm long. Overall about 20cm. Finished in brut the forge and then slightly screubbed with 2000 grit paper.
Handles in Ovangkol, oiled, black spacers.
Sheat in 4mm thick leather, oiled and finished with resolene. Hand stitched with double needles, as the ol' times.
Sturdier than knife...

I have no idea what Ovangkol is, but it looks gorgeous! Nice work!

I agree with MacHete, I have no idea what Ovangkol is but I'd love to have a large block of it for a piece I'm designing. That's a beautifull handle. Where can I get a block of Ovangkol?

Ovangkol is an exotic wood usually used in luthiery.
In fact my knifes woods are from that source, from my brother in law that is a luthier.
I've a large block of ovangkol of course, if you need a small block for handling a knife drop me two lines. cheers!

ovangkol is used a lot in making bodies and fretboards for guitars and basses, used usually on higher end instruments, it is a beautiful dense wood. man that knife is nice!! great score being able to get those awesome exotics!

thanks kevin.
Glad to know that also some one knows this very precious wood!

it is also a real pleasure to work with this wood it takes a great satin finsih and also has a nice feeling in the hand.

Great score of course... i've a big block!
