Well, I call it rustic because it has the forged finish on the ricasso and and a hint on the flats. 11 3/8 x 1 1/2 (avg)x .28 inches, 61-62 Rc. The blade has a very slight "paddle" shape. Hand rubbed finish on the bevels which were ground on the 72" Nathan platen and etched with FeCl. Sambar stag carver handle from the ever shrinking stash with fittings made from 1/4" wrought iron plate salvaged from an old grain elevator IIRC . The buttcap has a nut hard soldered to the inside and the tang was threaded. IMG_0099.jpg

Very nice - first class job!
I appreciate the proper use of "Rustic". Those who maker a bad blade with a rough finish and call it rustic really tick me off. Yours is a great blade with a well done brute-de-forge finish on the flats and clean bevels. The stag size is also properly matched to the ricasso.

Good news - The Old Globe Elevator WI is still available. The best buy for the buck is the 1.25X20" round bars.

I must confess that the blade/ricasso was crafted to fit the stag, not the other way around. But that is often the case when using that particular handle material.
I need to grab some of that iron bar. I don’t even have to unravel it like with the anchor chain links. :D
