I may be in the minority, but I think I actually prefer the rustic wrap. The hemp wrap gives an amazing amount of grip in hand, and with my medium size hand I find the wrap and leather to be just the right width for a really solid hold. If I was doing a lot of work that would torque the handle in hand a little more girth might help, but as far as 'grippiness', the hemp wrap is superior to almost any material like G10. micarta, Ti, that I have tried. I've not worked with it with wet hands yet. I also don't know if the grippy texture of the hemp\epoxy will smooth out over time.

I was unsure until I had one in hand at Blade. Lets just say I bought one and like it.
