Yesterday my poor 7 month old puppy went to the vets with an ear infection, and came back without his jewels! I bet he starts packing like you do when he goes to the sawbones! :D

Was this surgery done without your consent? Was consent to perform 'other proceedures' hidden within the legalese jargon of a consent you perhaps signed. Liberal interpretation by a professional as to what they think the client 'should' recieve causes me great concern

I have two ten-month-old toms about to experience the same. I think I'll let my wife deliver them into the hands of the vet. And maybe buy a set of thick leather chaps to wear in case they wish to make their displeasure known.

Mr. Cat, I was jesting. Not about his balls, they were indeed cut off, but about the surprise part ~although I'm sure that Toby was surprised! :p My wife talked me into it. Damn, that's two of us she gotten! :D

I do, however, hate the whole spay neuter agenda of some animal folk. "Neuter the dog, he will be happier". So we should labotomize folks, they'd be happier too?! "Neuter the dog, he won't get prostate or testicular cancer." How common is that, really? Should we cut off peoples testicles as a pre-emptive strike against cancer? How ludicrous! I neutered the dog so he wouldn't reproduce.

Little Bro I would be more concerned about a good thick and hard cup along with the chaps. That is if'en ya still got yers.:p ;)

Personally I'm for spaying an neutering animals. All it takes is just a moment for one too get outside and get knocked up. Then you have unwanted puppies or kittens. Way, way, too many get euthanized every year as it is.:grumpy: :(

Our Ace likes too think hs still has his even if all he's got left is the little sack they came in.:D
This is Ace watching fer his mommy too come home.:D

smoke and prayers coming to you for the little dogs nuts--may they hang in piece  :)

For some sick reason, I had a flash back to my PI days. I can still hear, "Sound off like ya got a pair!"

Squeak Squeak. Mine were left shooting blanks right after the last baby escaped from the Barn.

This might be a ridiculous question, but did they take them all the way off, or just sever the vas def? I know it sounds insane, but a lot of vets are just "stubbin' the plumbin'" and not taking out the whole sink. Supposedly, pet psychologists (i studied psych in college and love animals, but this is just silly) have found that animals adjust better to whole ordeal when they just get the vas def snipped because they aren't missing anything and won't fall into a pet depression so easily. Vets say that it is good for most pets because they still get all of their hormones, but can't make babies. However, a lot of vets still say full on chopblock for animals that are naturally aggressive and are going to be around children or other people (pit bulls, Rots, etc.). I know that'd calm me down real quick;)

This thread reminds me of an old Poker saying, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE BALLS, IF YOU'VE GOT THE NUTS"!!!! :D :D

I didn't know that vets were giving vasectomies, only castrations. I don't think the animals know their nuts are gone (even squirrells lose their nuts :D ), but I do believe the hormone part of it. He is one of "those" that you mentioned, but that didn't make me do it. The dog is temperamentally sound and trained. If a person has to castrate an animal to make him "safe", then either they or the animal have issues. I have some real concerns with neutering animals before sexual maturity ~ I feel that their physical and mental growth becomes stunted. YMMV

Munk, after kid 4 I told the doc to remove the whole weed, root and all just to be safe. Best I could get was the little snip

I probably didn't make my position crystal clear on the more aggressive breeds, Stevo. For the record, i'm a big fan of them:) I wouldn't own one, but that's because big dogs make big poop, and I hate poop. I think it comes down to training and that whole nature vs. nurture thing in psychology. Just because something is breed to be more aggressive doesn't mean that it will be. Once again, nature vs. nurture. I look at the "overly aggressive breeds" label as a load of bunk. COULD they take a big honkin' chunk out of your a$$? You betcha! But i've seen little toy breeds with more go-for-the-throat attitude than some of these "killers". I think that if you mistreat any animal it's gonna become mean after awhile. These big dogs just have more equipment to seriously damage someone. Heck, you could train maltese to protect your home, but I think an intruder would just use it as a furry football;) Keep us posted on your pup. He'll probably be OK, but if he starts redecorating your livingroom...he might have "issues" from the fixing;)

Well, if you want your pet castrated but not to suffer emotional trauma from missing testes, there's always Neuticals! They're "testicular implantations for pets."

Taken from their most frequently asked questions (emphasis added ;) ):

What is scar tissue development?

Some pets develop scar tissue. It is totally harmless and does not disfigure the Neuticle in any way. Scar tissue is a micro-thin film that may surround the Neuticles making it feel firmer to the human touch. While this is not a concern to most pet owners the way to eliminate potential development is to gently massage the Neuticles weekly to break up any possible formations or to Neuticle their pet with the Neuticles UltraPLUS which features a special textured exterior which virtually eliminates the risk of potential scar tissue development.

  :barf:

I've seen those, JR. Capitalism at its best. If people will buy fake dog berries, then they will by anything. Anybody else think it's time to bring back "My Pet Rock"? My age group missed that little phenom. we could make a killing.

Of course then there are those who try to get fake dog berries for themselves!

A close friend got home last Sunday night after an unplanned week in the hospital.

He went in for some kind of scan and told the Doctor twice he was allergic to iodine. They did the scan and he sat up and went into anaphylactic shock, and woke up in a hospital bed. When he confronted the Doctor later, the doc shrugged and said " well, we had to get a contrast somehow".

The friend then informed the doc what he had done to him qualified as criminal intent under the statutes.

He didn't see the doctor again. Took him a week in hospital to recover from being poisoned.

Did I mention he was undressing for the scan when the doctor said "I don't think you should be wearing a gun in the hospital" to which he informed the doc that the law "didn't give a **** about doctors and hospitals, only about Casinos, schools, and State Offices".

I wonder if the one thing had anything to do with the doctor not coming back?
