rusty hatchet project - before and after

Finally finished this project today. I picked this up at an estate sale, threw it in with a bunch of other tools I was buying. Low investment so I was not worried if I messed it up.

I spent some time sanding the pitting out and bringing it to a nice finish. And it desperately needed a new handle. Fun project, I have another in progress now. No shortage of rusty hatchets at sales. My problem is feeling compelled to rescue them.

Thanks

Cosmo

i think you put it on upside down

Looks real nice. I can appreciate how much time you put into restoring it. Well done

Well done!

It's fun to take an old hatchet or axe and give it a full polish. And when you're done you have a fine tool.
