Rusty Serration advice

I have a Becker TacTool that has gotten a bit rusty. It has several different edge types / serrations and a lot of hard to reach spaces.

I figure that sharpening the edge will remove any rust spots that are there, but most of them are in the serrations and one or two seem to be on the blade surface (which is coated).

What is the best way to remove rust without scratching up the the coating on the blade?

Please help!

If you want to remove the rust without mussing up the coating it's not easy. On any of my toolbox knives like that I usually just slather in good oil to keep them from getting any worse. To remove the rust with as little damage to the coating as possible you can try a soak with penetrating oil and a dremel wire wheel brush remove it without affecting the surrounding coated areas too much. The rust in the serrations for me is a non issue, it'll get sharpened out as rusty serrations are dull serrations and prolly don't cut as well as they should. If the rust is just light surface rusting that isn't at the very edge just oil it and use a nylon toothbrush to knock off the loose stuff, then sharpen if you want them shiny again.
