I got this pix when Rusty stopped by yesterday. I'll leave the story to him.

Yvsa talked of naming the Scagel style bowie the Cherokee rose.

Then I went to a local powwow I haven't gone to in years and spotted a 4" diameter belt buckle that was completely done in seed beads. I bought it.

Later I realized it had significance to a mystical experience I'd had almost 15 years ago ( 2PM 5/13/87 ) when I stood in the middle of the reservation and felt heat/light/fire unthaw and make my heart/soul burst into full bloom like time lapse photograhy of a rose budding and opening into full blossom.

Any way, this is a blue Shoshone rose, and a mandella like you see fancy dancers wear on their foreheads in their regalia, only on a belt buckle.
An icon which symbolically reminds me to try to live in that state daily. To reach out to others in lovingkindness and charity ( while keeping the 41 mag. in my other hand leveled on 'em under the table ). Sorry for the touchy feely response, but you asked that's only way I can think of off hand to answer honestly.

I thought it good enough to be in both places.:)

Anyway this is not just a beaded piece that as you can see has a great deal of meaning to Rusty it is also a Museum Quality World Class example of beadwork!!!!
And the Shoshone Rose has a great feeling it imparts to the one holding it.
I suspect its not just the love the person who made it put in the piece just as the kamis put a piece of themselves in every khukuri we get but Rusty's love for humanity as well.
Not often in a man's lifetime does someone like Rusty come along. It's a great pleasure to know Rusty and even more so that he also claims me as a true Brother.

Good question to ask Yvsa or others here is significance of the mandellas the dancers wear and why they wear them on their foreheads. What do some mean to them, stand for, etc.?

And why on the forehead over what the Hindus percieve as the third or spiritual eye? Uncle? Anybody? Interesting that the Hebrews were to wear the small whatchamacallit holding the scriptures in the same place on the forehead.

Three birds of a feather ( Hindu, Native American, & Jewish practice ) , or rather 3 tailfeathers from the same raggedy-assed vulture ( Uncle Bill, Yvsa, and me ) standing for the three of us bro's ?

Given the sensitive nature of the subject, maybe you out there on the forum can understand why I tell people not to take what I say unless too seriously unless I'm joking - then pay REAL close attention, cause laughter is hypnotic, and a kinder, gentler way to the subconscious - but the point still gets made and maybe remembered.

As they say, one man's theology is the next man's belly laugh. Or maybe God's! One can but hope the Great Mystery laughs with rather than at us more often than not.

I was courteous yesterday to your ideas of a man's time to die coming when it's gonna come. Doesn't mean I agree with them, or disagree. My own ideas ( at least the ones I'll admit to in private ) probably sound even more ridiculous than yours.

Hmmm... since the idea of a God with a sense of humor is marginally more palatable than the idea of a God without a sense of humor, I guess I may as well be suspicious that we ( Unc, me, and Yvsa ) just might be the warm-up act for the 3 Stooges.

I've always said if I had run across the proverbial burning bush in the old testament rather than Moses, I know what I'd have done.

However, now that I know Yvsa is on six times the level of lasix ( a diuretic ) I am, I'd probably get knocked down in his rush to relieve himself ( out of necessity )!!!

Just TZN bro.

Thanks for PM chuckle. You're on a roll, Rusty.

If I ran across the burning bush I'd be looking for some squirrel's heads to roast.
