Does anyone have a reliable way to make contact with Ryan? I can't for the life of me find a way to make contact with him to resolve a long unfulfilled order (Oct 02). I have to believe I'm not the only unlucky one in this position out there left with no clear recourse. Anybody? Thanks

try www.rmjtactical.com
good luck...I have obtained 3 over the years...2 talons and 1 kestral...VERY fustrating trying to contact anyone there....Ryan seems like a good guy when you talk to him, I just think he was overran with orders...the thing is, others have jumped in and started making high end hawks (K5, Graham bros, and others) and its nice to be able to contact someone there even if you have to wait....BTW I've had a Crash Axe on order for years and have given up

Does Ryan not make his traditional hawks anymore?

I know there was a period some years back where his dad was sick and this part of the business was waning but I haven't heard what the outcome was.

I always thought his work was top notch and I regret not buying a hawk back when I had the chance.

GELADEN! Nope your not the only one. I too ordered a 'hawk from Ryan in Jan. of 2002. Have never gotten a 'hawk or refund. Dispite counless attempts on my part to communicate with him.

I'll try to keep the thread constructive and out of the moderator's concern of this going off track and into a bashing session. But I was hoping that the (presumed) many of you out there in the same boat of downpayments made in good faith and getting the song and dance story, (when therre WAS still communication) a way to get closure to this uncomfortable mess. I realize many have or had gotten hawks and they tend to defend Ryan's dealing's. But I'll say it's been nothing short of frustrating having been placed on the other side of that fence. It irks me to still see periodicals carrying his products to much ballyhoo and never commenting on the poor return from his "business".As an illustration..try calling the phone number on his website. The message function has been full for years....or try E-mailing ...or....

I see the ferrier rasp hawks in your picture, did you make them? I started a thread on ferrier rasps and would like to know?

Got two Kestrals and one Talon from RMJ tactical long delay on the Kestral (6mo) but I have them both, wasn't charged until hawks were shipped either...

I'm waiting for a kestral. been about 6 months or so. Spoke to Richard (I'm pretty sure that was his name) at RMJ Tactical a month ago after sending a message through his site. still waiting patiently. If my wait allows a military order to ship faster than that's all right with me.

I'd try contacting him thru RMJ Tactical if your order is for one of the "production" models.

And that is a great collection and picture - thanks!

......no this was one of his traditional hawks, at least that is what we had arrainged at that time when I made the order and paid half down (dumb):barf: . Now it's been POOF...no answered E-mails and no way to contact.

Bummer///I was thinking of taking a class from him at the John C. Campbell folk school in February. Wonder where he went?

hss_forge..He may well be giving that class, I don't know. But I do know he's not honoring his commitments made/paid for on his traditional hawks. Hawks he took orders for before he stopped taking any new orders and started his tactical line, which I understand is a wholly separate operation. I've even tried to raise a response from him through contact with THAT group and nothing. I believe it's a case of old business that no longer commands his attention and hopefully fades away. Sorry to rant, but to be totally ignored after a business contract is struck, is something I've not gone through before and it's infuriating! Tempered with much earlier promises (2yrs ago) that the hawk was finished and shipping was imminent.

If Ryan took money for a job then he either owes the money back or makes good on the product - Period.

Have you posted in GB&U yet?

....my point for persuing this exactly! No I haven't posted this elsewhere but if it is more suitable for the GB&Ugly forum I'd gladly let a moderator move it.

I don't know if it's more suitable for that forum or not but maybe it might help to shed some additional light on it.

After reading about everyones trouble with RMJ I e-mailed him from his web site and the other contact address. I mentioned I'd read on the forums that he was difficult to reach. I asked him to show me I'm wrong.
He replied this morning! (I like his hawks, just don't want to have the same experience as some have had)
Hoping they get organized,as I like the looks and feel of the Kestral.
