From the RMJ site:
"Ryan will be on "Fred the Show" Tuesday Nov. 20th at 10:00 a.m. EST talking with Jeff Styles about the Eagle Talon project. You can listen to this on the internet by going to www.wgow.com click on the f.m. 102.3 button, then click on the audio feed button. It will take a few minutes to fire up, so plan ahead."

Due to "technical difficulties" on broadcast.com, I missed the beginning of the interview but then caught it from around 10:15 until it ended a few minutes ago. It was cool to be able to hear a broadcast discussion of hawks. For those of you who weren't able to tune in, here's the info from Ryan's site about his new Special Forces hawk.

Yeah, I agree that it was an interesting show. I'm pretty positive the Ka-bar was made of 1095, not 1075 though, and I don't think the Ka-bar was used as a bayonet, as the host of the show said. Though those are probably distinctions finer than the average listener appreciates. Anyway, definitely interesting to hear all this discussed, and it was cool to see the show over the webcam. I got a much better impression of the size of the hawk from seeing the host handle it. Cool stuff.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the Ka-bar, Burke. See the show? Web cam? Darn, I missed the fact that they were doing a video broadcast as well. I stumbled on the interview info on Ryan's site at around 9 this morning. After posting the info here, I simply followed Ryan's instructions to get the audio. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to convince Ryan to make the next NY show.

Shrike, one bit of info I got from the show that I hadn't seen on the RMJ site is that the guys who first approached Ryan were Air Force SOF. ;)

The AF unit that orginally wanted them is the 820th SFG from what I understand. Now strictly speaking these guys are not really SOF. They are more like a Hot Shot unit that runs around putting out fires and waits till the normal fire fighters arrive. You could call them the Pathfinders or Rangers of the Air Force ground combat skils. These guys deploy first to a hot spot and we follow them in after they set up for the "normal" follow on forces, how do I know this you ask  I've got some friends that worked for me in the 820th these guys have heard about RJM's Hawks but have not seen them.

Thing is I've heard so much about the American Ranger Tomahawk and next to nothing about RJM and their Hawks. I'm leaning towards the RJM Eagle Talon just cuz their kewl history but would like to find out more about RJM before purchasing one. I figgured this would be the best place on the web as Hawks have such a small specialized place on the blade world. Not to mention I can't find out much of anything else doing google and dogpile searches on RJM.

Reference the above ... FYI, Ryan Johnson is an outstanding hawk maker and cuts no corners on quality.
That's an appraisal from another hawk maker, and I'm VERY picky about quality.
