I have been wanting a brkt mini Canadian for some time now but I keep questioning is it really worth the price tag? The cheapest one Ive found has been 107 plus shipping. For the handle material I want it will run around 146 plus shipping. I am having a hard time justifying to myself of spending almost two hundred bucks on a sub 3 inch blade. So give me your input is it really worth it?

I would say yes, any BRKT is WELL worth the price. Get the Rising Wolf instead, you'll like it.

Well I just looked at the rising wolf and like it alot but it's too big. I am looking fir something sub 3 inches closer to 2.5 inches to be legal carry when I go to massachsetts this fall

Oh, I see. I'm sorry I sent you on a fool's errand. The one you're looking at is great. If you're interested, check out the Imp, PSK, and Bumblebee. They're all close to that size.

In case you didn't know, the 2.5 inch rule is only in Boston, most of the North and West of the state don't even have a blade limit :)

I really like all my BRKT's and feel the the quality of the knives make them well worth the dollar paid.

Great customer service as well. They really stand behind their product in my experience.

Its not really that expensive once you realize what you are getting.

really worth the price tag?

IMO bark river is actually really cheap considering what a great product you get. their knives are as good as anyone's at any price unless we're talking something really special.

I have two Mini-Canadians, and one of them resides in my pocket EVERY day. I think this model is the best of all the small Bark River knives, I like to call it "the best little BIG knife out there". Here's the one I'm toting today.

You might want to try out the Bravo Necker. It is the right size knife and will introduce you to Bark River Knives for about $70 (knife only - no handle scales)

I like BRKTs too, and I have a couple which I really love, but I won't say they are not expensive. 150 dollars for a knife are a lot of money for me. And yes, I spent a lot of money on knives (when I could). You could try looking for something cheaper as there are lots of companies making quality small knives, but if it's a Barkie you're looking for, you won't find similar products no matter how hard you try (those materials, those shapes, that convex grind, etc...). I hope this helps.

I have been wanting a BRK&T...for some time...

Bark River knives are generally a bargain when you concider all you get for the money;

...great steel, geometry, heat treatment and customer service;

...factor in quality sheaths and that fact that it's made in America and you will see it's hard to beat.

Look at it this way.

Generic Scenario YMMV
Assuming you don't lose your knife. You are 40 yrs old, and you pass your Bark River on to your Grandchild when you are 80.

Bark River - $150
$150 divided by 40 years = $3.75 per year
$3.75 divided by 12 months = $0.31 cents per month
$0.31 divided by 30 days = $0.01 cent per day

Bark River total cost of ownership = 1 penny a day. Very affordable, almost free :thumbup:.
