here is an older Electrician's knife with main blade tang stamped as above.
there is nothing stamped on the liner lock for screwdriver blade.
it was sold to me as bone handled, but i think it is smooth Delrin, which if correct means this is not a Schrade Cut Co. but a later use of this branding.
i have seen S.C.C. branded knives from '70s but these have been fancy special editions. this one is a work knife, so why the S.C.C. label ?
any info on it's probable age or why S.C.C. was used instead of Schrade or Schrade Walden ?
thanks, roland

bumping this up in the hopes that someone will have info on this knife with the SCC stamping. thanks, roland

Roland, that is pretty odd, I'm not familiar enough with the 204 tang stamps to recall seeing anything other than the S-W stamp, but the presence of the 204 alone would signify it as being post Cut.Co as the number was substantially longer under that name (plus those knives weren't numbered anyway). I believe they started handling them in delrin around 1970-71, and marketed them along with the Ulster T-29's.
The only thing I can guess at is that perhaps it was a contract knife for , say one of the big hardware cos. or Penny, or Sears. The other guess is that the tang stamp broke and they had to substitute it. I really doubt it's the stamp case though as the #204 would likely have been a part of the stamp. Very interesting, and mysterious:confused:

PS-here's a link to a post by Codger with a history lesson on the 204:

G'Day Roland, That S.C.C. 204 is standard Schrade Electricians knife with smooth Delrin handles.Schrade used S.C.C. on other patterns but does not denote Schrade Cut.Co.
Attached photos of several S.C.C. 204's identical to yours together with the Tang stamp for the much older Schrade Cut Co Electricians <TL29> for comparison. The other two are Schrade Walden 204S.

P.S. You will notice the Schrade Cut Co. Electricians knife doesnt have the liner locks like all the rest...you press down on the blade to release.

thanks eric and larry(mr. roo), i had already read codger's review article on electrician knives, but there was no mention of this SCC stamping. (i always search for a "codger review" for each Schrade i receive; thanks to codger for all this work; best info anywhere)
so this is post '73. i wonder why SCC was used on contract knives ? it's a little obscure, whereas Schrade or Sears, etc. is more understandable to the buyer.

There is an article in Knife World, June 2004 called; Schrade-100 years of Markings, by B.K. Brooks.
In the article he dates that stamp as 1973 to Present. (Of course the article was printed 1 month before Schrade closed).

I don't believe the S.C.C. stamp was used for contract knives. I have seen other post 1973 patterns with that stamp, but I mostly see it on the TL-29 for some strange reason. In the article the example he gives if S.C.C.+/USA 898UH. I think I have/had an Uncle Henry with UH shield and the SCC stamp.

The 898UH and also the 886UH. Both of those Uncle Henry knives are one pinned handle versions of very similar 897UH and 885UH patterns. They were slightly different in length, and I've seen them offered in generic brown boxes, with no Schrade markings on the box, but I've never seen Uncle Henry paperwork offered with one. They've been discussed on the forum a few times, but never fully explained.
