This one is shipping out towards my customer today. The 9" blade is forged from W-2 and is 1 3/4" wide. The guard and butt cap are french grayed. The spacer is copper and the handle is sambar stag. I hope you enjoy. the hamon turns back so that the entire clip is hardened. The clip is not fully sharpened but two or three passes on a diamond rod would have it like a razor.

I really like that Craig, different from what I have seen from you so far in terms of design, but a real winner in my mind. Congrats.

Craig, remember EXACTLY how you shaped that blade. Someday, we're gonna have to talk about one of those. ;) :)

That blade is coming my way. I told Craig what I wanted in general terms and he did a great job of turning an idea into reality. I can't wait to get it in my hands! As always, Craig is a pleasure to do business with, and he makes a great blade.

Regards,
Scott

I am glad you all liked the bowie. I have been wanting to make one for awhile and when Scott mentioned he was interested in a southwest style bowie I jumped at the chance. I don't think that this will be the last one I make, I really like the curves of the southwest style.

If UPS holds up their end of the deal it will be in your hands on Monday Scott.

Craig,

That is a piece that I wouldn't change a thing on!

well done! What grit are you going to before etching? That finish is awesome!

For the finish, I take it to 800 grit and then do the final scratch pattern on the blade in 600 grit. Then a few quick dips in Ferric chloride with baking sode used after dips to nuetralize the acid. I then use a lot of elbow grease with flitz polish to shine the blade up to the desired level. A couple of benefits of this finish is that it provides a instant patina to help against corrosion and it is easy to restore.

thanks C. I have been using a 400 grit etched finish that I call a working finish. All my stuff is user intended so thats the reason I stop at 400 grit. Nice work!

I paced all day until the UPS guy dropped this knife off for me. The picture does not do it justice, and I am extremely pleased. Again, Craig is a great maker and a pleasure to do business with.

Regards,
Scott
