Does anyone know how long Spyderco has been offering serial numbered knives? I wonder if that is the way to go if you really want to be a Spyderco collector?

Lureman-
I believe the first 200 numbered knives (Sal, please correct me if I'm wrong)are sent out specifically to collectors.

Hi Lureman,

I would say if you intend to collect Spyderco knives The Serial #'ed ones would be the way to go.

We started numbering knives back in the late 80's. It does get you an opportunity at every model. there are also collections for sale that go way back. I know of several for sale. It seems they are a decent invesment.

I'd heard about the 200 collector numbers - what's the scoop on the Shabarias in the mid 300's referenced in another thread?

Such a thing as numbered but non-collector?

Thanks
Jim

We have a group of "signed on" collectors that get the first 200 numbered models and first choice on all variations.

Custom collaborations are numbered through 1000.
