Boy that is a beauty Kathleen. I have been noticing your work lately and I find it to be exceptional. The Burl is gorgeous and the overall shape of this knife is a favorite of mine. Thanks for showing it to us.

Edited because I originally forgot a few words. Now it makes more sense.

WOW!!!! Kathleen this is GORGEOUS. I have NEVER seen burl like that!!!
This is the closest slab I have found, and UNTIL I just saw the wood you used, I thought the below was purty. I did not even know you Folks used OAK!!!!
You are a SUPER Maker, and have a GREAT EYE for handle material....Ira

This is Maple. For-GET-IT. I now search for Oak-Burl!!!

Hey Wolfman, thanks for the comment. I love this handle material also but find it hard to get. It is RED oak burl instead of just oak burl. If anyone out there knows where to get more I'd sure like to know. Kathleen

Beautiful knife Kathleen. Looks like I need to keep an eye out for the Macon duo at the Blade show this year :D

if I find you some, WOULD you make me a knife eactly like the S.U.C. knife in the photo?

Well, even if you can't, I will do some searching up here in New hampshire for ya!!!!;) ;)

Again Kathleen, this knife is STUNNING:eek:  :) wolf

Wolf, just send me that burl wood, I'll make use of it :D

Kathleen, I am LOOKING:eek:

Neil, YOU got it!!! E-mail me your shipping address.............wolf:)

Well Guys, I am in a tissy. This past weekend a couple of knifemakers I asked to get me some more red oak burl felt that it was a spalted wood not a burled wood. I have been buying the wood from Sheffield and they call it red oak burl. At any rate I really like it and if anyone knows what it is for sure and where I might get some I would appreciate some help. And thanks for all the positive feedback. Makes me feel all the work pays off. Kathleen

I'd have to say that the wood we are looking at is spalted. The dark streaks that pick grain and follow it are a dead give away. There seems to be some burl to the wood as well but the main characteristic you might ask for would be spalted wood.

Might help folks find you some more of this beautiful stuff that you seem to be using *Sooo* well.:D

Good luck!

Brian
