I just picked up a new S&W 627 PC 5" and took off the "much too small for my hands" wooden grips and slid on the Hogue grips that came with it. My problem is, there is no way to secure the grip that I can determine. The Hogue grip has a hole in the bottom and the 627 doesn't. It stays on okay, but slides down BADLY when I pull it from my sheath. As I will be trusting my life to this gun and want to go out plinking soon, I was wondering if there was a way to secure it.

Thanks,

Ed

Those Hogues should have had a small "U" shaped clip that connects to the sides of the pins on the bottom of the grip frame. At the bottom of the "U" is a threaded hole that a screw threads into. The grip has a groove that the clip rides in as you push it on. A screw should have come with it as well. The screw goes throught the bottom of the rubber grip and secures it to the frame.

You made need to call Hogue for a replacement "U"clip and screw.

The stirup was hidden under the bag containing the spent shell that comes with the gun. Oh well, I found it.

Thanks for the help, though. It's rare that I figure out the stupid problems for myself. :D

i presume they are rubber (or whatever) hogues, try some wood hogues, i put a pair on my det special and they really look good/good grip also.

I love Hogue grips. A couple of years ago I was in Paso Robles, CA and got some grips for an S&W Model 10. I loved the look of one set of grips but it didn't feel exactly right. One of the guys at the Hogue factory took the time to modify the grips so that it fit my hand perfectly then he custom fit the grips to my gun all for no extra charge. It doesn't get much better than that!!!
