Earlier tonight I was going through the knives that used to be my Grandads..
Probably my favorite is a Schrade-Walden 889.. It has Schrade-Walden on the shield and blade tang. It also has the punch blade. I know from reading on here its hard to date Schrades but does anyone have a guesstimate on production years, and also is it common for them to have the punch blade?
I was going to post pics but the batteries in the camera took a vacation.

Is it possible it is an 899?

This was probably the most common slim stockman with a punch blade, in addition to the spey and turkish clip. It is 3 9/16" and ran with a Schrade Walden stamp from 1946 to 1973, and with a Schrade NY or Schrade stamp until 1986. Prior to that, it was the old 89931/4 as a Schrade Cut Co. It had a cousin, the 898 which was the same knife with K-Horn handles.

Other patterns with a punch were the 891 (3 1/2") and 883 (4"). These stock knives were serpentine with a standard clip blade, rather than the slimmer turkish clip.

There may have been some stubby equal end stock knives with a punch as well.

Thanks for the info.. You are correct, it is an 899.. I guess I should have put my glasses on :D

They are not very good, but heres a couple pics of it..

Nice enough pics to me. I like that knife. It looks to be in grand shape, and has the Schrade Walden marked shield. The stock knife with the punch are dandies. Those get swooped up real quick in an auction.

Thanks... It really is in great shape
I don't know when Grampa got it, but I have a really strong urge to carry it. I would be sick if I lost it though.... Someday it will be my sons :D
