First and foremost. Knives are not meant for prying. Secondly, I have several S&W knives that I really like, so this is not a negative for the whole line.
That said, please continue.
I got this knife for free a while back, and it's been sitting on a shelf ever since. As I was walking out to the yard to relax and take in the evening, I figured I'd play with it a bit. The scales are made from some kind of hard plastic, so I thought I'd do some light prying on a half-rotted log to see how they held up to it. The good news: the scales did fine. The bad news: the blade didn't.
I stuck the tip into a crevice and pryed lightly. Off it went. Oh, well. I stuck the rest of the blade in and pryed lightly. It snapped like a twig.
