I just received a S&W HRT3 boot knife from Smoky Mtn. Knife Works.
The quality is every bit as good as the little boot knife from Gerber.
The Gerber runs about $47, The S&W was $15 and made of 440C

Dear sir,I own the same knife and i agree with you a real winner,Sold as a rock great handle,And as you said 440c.A great little package for the money i paid £19.00 for mine compared to the Gerber guardian backup at nearly £70.00.Now i'm certainly no expert by any means but c'mon.I love mine and i hope you enjoy yours welldone S&W all the best BLINDREF

How do the two compare? I was thinking about getting a Gerber, but if I can get three of these for one Gerber that would be much better if the quality is similar.

I got several one for each vehicle and I really like the quality for the price. If it gets ripped off or has to be abused or ditched it won't break my heart or wallet.

Ben-The S&W and the Gerber are of equal quality in my mind. This makes the price differential puzzling, but the S&W's are a very good value in my book.
