Trent though these might be of interest to you guys. They were discontined models in late 60s so Dad bought them from the sales rep.

I did not have the box for the Folding Bowie and the Lineman's knife. I used the Folding Bowie hard for a long time and it shows. Hope you guys enjoy them.

Welcome CopDoc!!
He has some really old, nice knives guys fellas (and gals)
Imperials, Waldens, Westerns, Camillus, Wostenholms,etc
I think he will fit in good here in our lil' Schardian hangout
I met him over on Usmilitariaforum.com/Edged weapons sub forum
He finally got sick of me bugging him to sign up here on BF I guess
He told me "thanks for renewing my interest in NON military knives T Rock"
So that sorta made my day

We gotta set him straight on the terminology
Folding BOWIE
I think the proper term is folding hunter??

I like the jigging on the folding Bowie

I look forward to more posts/pics of your knives
Feel free to ask as many questions as you want too.....

That's a real birdseye too. Some of the newer ones had the big rivit that didn't pivot.

Hi Guys

Thanks Trent. You really did renew my interest in my own knives.

When I got the big knife it had "Folding Bowie Hunter" on the blade. It wore off long ago. It was a salesman's sample so I don't know if they all had the writting on them.

THAWK, I always like the Birds eye but never could carry it since it was new.

Is this the place to ask about Imperials?

See
Even I learn something new everyday here!!
If it said Folding Bowie on it
I'm cool with that!!

Yes on Imperials in this sub forum
And Ulsters, Craftsman, Kingstons, Frontier and Hammer Brand....

Thanks(the whole line is OK here)

Did all the Linemans knives have the etching(?) on the blade like mine. The large folder had writting like that that said "Folding Bowie Hunter"

I understand. I have three Birdseye Knives. One is a black Ulster. And yes, this forum is Imperial friendly.

Notice my 835Y has the big rivets, but they don't really match up at the pivot points.

Thanks, those are real nice. I think I have an older Ulster that was very well used. I would love to have that one.

Anyone know if the etching on the Lineman's knife and large folder were standard or just on the sales samples?

These pics show a Schrade 225H folding hunter of that period, with the blade etch and a secondary blade with "Wondra Edge."

Very nice. When did the serrated blades come out?

PS Maybe it said "Bowie Folding Hunter" instead of "Folding Bowie Hunter" but that is not a bad memory considering I got it about 1963 or 64.

Interstng link, I get the "point"(or edge). Do you know when the first pocket knifes with serrations were used?

Ps here are some serrated designs a few thousand years older.:)
Sorry they are not Shrades. I put these on another forum but you guys might like them.

Primitive knives
L to R
Fire hardened chert from museum at Silver River Park. Typical ancient Floridian style. (serrated)

Rhyolite form local NC knife maker. (serrated)

Steel blade from another local knife maker. Rhyolite and this knife from a local street festival. The knive were bargins. There guys were professional tool and die makers. Can't remember the exact price but both less than $35 about 7-8 years ago.

Peruvian (I think) dagger Parents bought it for me alost 50 years ago at University of NC during cultural exchange show. I also have the bow and arrows with quiver that were being sold on the campus.

Bone blade souvenir knife from Silver River Museum.

Souviner knife from NC museum of history in Raleigh sold as typical of Cherokee wooden dagger. I bought it on a school trip when I was about 8.

Top souviner point from Discovery Center.
