Now that the knives are actually shipping, someone at Kershaw should be able to tell us what the final hardness turned out to be. I'm sure there are more than a few of us eager to find out.

Tommie?

Joshua J.

We are calling out 58-61 HRC the one I just pulled off the line and checked was right at 60 HRC +/- 1 hope this helps
thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Tommie.

Now we just have to wait for some user testing to find out how tough it is.

(and good job to you as well hardheart, I expected that Thomas would have given that stat, but it slipped by me.)

I've "tested" my ZT0121 recently. Was working on trying to make a second finger choil with a diamond needle file :o and the file skidded on the edge. I instantly bade farewell to the edge. But no, I mean, some damage was done, but nothing compared to what I expected. A couple of strikes with Spyderco ceramic rods and the edge is back on as new. And another thing - there is no use trying making choils on it with a needle file. I barely scratched it. Need to borrow an electric drill :).

I think the trick is to make the choil before it's heat-treated and hardened. :)

You wait too long for testing and you wont be able to find one on the primary market. There will be no more, and from what I understand, the factory was down to just a handful after the weekend.

I'd get to buying soon.

Is ZT121 a steel type?

:)No it's a knife Josh.The steel is S30V.Here's a pic..

I thought the S110V was closer to the hardness of ZDP-189 RC65-66??
