I kept missing these - and there are painful few that become available - but the knife gods must have smiled on me today because I scored the one I wanted - the TNK SmF tri-brid with G10, CC titanium and S110V black blade.

I'm stoked - can't wait to see how the S110V will perform.

More to follow...

Pics added - post #18.

I dont want to deal spot but there are a few left from the place I got them. ( I don't think noting the place I picked one up is necessarily spotting a deal).

I will post pics, albeit poor ones - I am a poor photographer.

I wanted one with the stonewashed concealed carry titanium scale - and Neil only got one in. The others have the flamed titanium scale.

It's got the American flag on it (g10 side) - so I justified the purchase by making it the piece that helps me remember when we got Osama Bin Ladin. Not sure if the wife will buy into that concept - but it works for me.

I was debating getting the 3V or the 110V. I do see the 3V knives are all gone from the place where they are sold. That makes the choice easier. Sounds like you might have to buy the wife something real nice to take the focus off you.

I think one e-retailer still has one or two in stock - at least they did this morning - I was under the impression that the S110V was a little rarer than the 3V, and that S110V was labeled somewhere as "S90V on steroids". I missed out on a new Para 2 in carbon and S90V at my B&M store - I had it in my hands and passed on buying it. I called a week later and it was sold. I kick myself for that. This Strider should help ease that pain.

Either one (3V or S110V) should be the cats pajamas.

Momma got a nice Mothers Day present - so I think the heat might not be as bad.

Some pics to keep your stoke till she arrives!;)

The digital strider camo SMFs almost look like they're underpriced w/ a Starlingear bead on the site.

Thats what I'm talking about - just picture it with the black blade and black G10. I trust that is yours - hows it been so far?

The other SmF you are referring to look too nice to be used - thats why I passed them up. I can't see beating up a looker like that.

Probably be sorry later - too many knives, not enough money.

Haven't used this SMF yet but I do have a black Oxide SnG w/S110V that is great - still has a solid edge. Don't forsee any sharpening necessary for a long time. Not a huge fan of half CC, Half standard handles but purchased because of the S110V and the Flag. These newer Striders almost have no break in period needed. Both came very smooth out of the bag.

I bought one of each (SMF and SnG). They are nearly custom in terms of F&F - really outstanding quality and the first Striders I've seen that I'd say are actually really good values for the money.

Congrats on the score! For the sake of my wallet, I'm kinda glad I was at the gym this afternoon (Pacific time) when you posted this thread, and that the black G-10 versions are now sold out. I've already spent quite a bit on S110V Striders in the last month, including a couple of the TNK SMFs in the other two colors!

I hear you - I usually read these type of threads, only to find out the knives being discussed are sold out by the time I get there.

I was checking the TNK website every ten minutes or so, starting Friday night, cause I got an email from Neil that he was posting more over the weekend. This was the first time I got the jump - and with my luck probably the last.

Of course, he HAD to go and post 3 linerlock AR's with the multi-colored g10 scales just before he posted the S110V Smf - so I ended up getting one of those also. I have been eyeballing the new framelock AR/GB but was really holding out for a liner lock - I thought Strider stopped making them (linerlock) and I was going to have to get lucky finding one in the Exchange. Surprise!

I'm going to have to go the rest of the year w/o buying another knife after this episode.

Yeah, so my wallet ended up hating me anyway. After making my earlier post, I was ogling the pictures and noticed that the brown S110V SMF wasn't identical to the one I already had, but instead had flame striped titanium (my favorite of Strider's lock side finishes). So I decided to pick that one up and, since I like big, heavy knives and wanted to get the most out of the $30 international shipping, had to add in one of those 8.5 oz. liner lock ARs as well. :D

I'm off to take pics of some other, unused knives in my collection so I can sell them on the Exchange... :p

I was exchanging emails with Neil from TNK and he made reference that those liner lock AR's are rare - so I'm not sure if that means that Strider found them in the dark recesses of their storeroom or they make very very few of these now that they are making framelock AR's. Either way I'm glad I picked one up.

My wallet never likes me - but I'm gonna be a happy camper come Tues/Wed this week when I get the package with 2 toys in it.

Some pics of the Strider family.

The AR and the S110V SmF got here Tuesday, so I've had a few days to play. I've had the DGG SmF since December - it's nicely broken in now.

Some initial impressions:

The SmF is just one of my all time favs. The S110V version I received has the full lego G10 scale, and the concealed carry stonewashed titanium scale. The clip is also stonewashed. The blade is coated, and it is a 3/4 hollow grind. Since receiving, I've been cutting bunches of cardboard and paper, along with some oak, poplar and pine. There appears to be no noticeable edge dulling. If I cut as much with a S30V blade as I did with the S110V I would have had to touch it up at least once. This one feels a lot like a custom knife. The stonewashed scale is very easy on the pocket and makes the knife easy to retrieve.

The AR is just a beast. Big blade and thick overall, and I do believe from others pics that Strider thinned the titanium liners a little bit on the newer ones to make them more pocket friendly. I love the blade shape, and the knife instills confidence to handle some heavy use. Believe it or not - I do carry the AR in pocket. The scales are rounded, reminiscent of the concealed carry SnG and SmF. If you have small hands this one might be a little much.

Fit and finish on both is really, really good, with the SmF being a little bit better than the AR. The SmF opens smoothly, and the only "break-in" required will be the mating of the frame lock with the tang of the blade - it's a little gritty.

The AR was freakin glass smooth right out of the gate.

Great stuff. As I mentioned earlier, I ordered a S110V SMF and AR the same day you did, and I too was really impressed by how smooth the AR was out of the box plastic bag. :D
