S30V 14C28N Wonder if I have right impression of the steel

There are numerous threads on these steels some of which I will fully admit go way over my head into technical details as I am still learning. Though currently I was just more recently introduced to kershawguy's website when he show a act of kindness on the forum which according to a few members here is quite common for him. Anyway I found a few knives I like on his site 1 blem a Kershaw Blur which has 14C28N, Kershaw Zing Black Tanto, Kershaw Skyline Brown all with that same steel. But prior to that I was eying the Kershaw Blur with S30V to try out that mostly because I like the knife itself and wanted to test the steel, or possibly pick up the Buck Vantage Pro or maybe the Spyderco Native to test out the S30V. I am wondering if my assessment of these steels is correct, if not could you correct them for me.

S30V: Takes a good edge, dulls a little bit and holds that for a long time, a bit hard to sharpen
14C28N: Takes a sharper edge than S30v, dulls quicker, easier to sharpen
Aus 8: Takes a good edge for the price, dulls quickly, easy to sharpen
8Cr13MoV: Close to Aus 8 in performance

Also how well does S30V and 14C28N compare to Aus 8 and 8CR13MOV, I hear it's a good upgrade but most time people don't go futher beyond that, particularly in how sharp can it get in comparison. And how good is my assessment of the first 2 steels because as of right now I am leaning towards 14C28N as it be EDC and I can easily just sharpen it up when I get home if I feel the need.

The Sandvik 14C28N does not take a sharper edge.
You can get both 14C28N and s30v scary sharp.
s30v does not dull quickly from a razor edge but will over some time. It then will hold its working edge for a long time before you have to sharpen again. It's not hard to sharpen, it's just a bit more difficult than some other steels. It may take a little longer to sharpen, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy.
14C28N will hold a pretty good edge(not as well as s30v) and is easier to sharpen back up to a razor edge. However, the edge rolls and chips a little easier than s30v.

If I had the choice between the two, I would take s30v any day. 14C28N is a good steel though. You really can't go wrong with either. However, if you want something a bit better, go with s30v. But for regular EDC, either will do great. You'll just have to sharpen a little more often with 14C28N.

That sounds good I may take the 14c28n or s30v for my next EDC and since I was thinking about getting a blur latter down the road as a work knife get that one in s30v.
