Title says it all.. im trying to decide between the 2.. i plan on EDC'ing and cutting up the biggest baddest boxes and paper and twine :) both are S30V and both have similar blade lengths.. i would say the blur could take more of a beating where the Random is slimmer and more pocket friendly...

I edc a blur everyday. I like the blur a lot, and i feel more confident in the blade thickness of the blur vs the leek. Plus blur has the trac inserts, feels better in the hand and it doesnt have that stupid lock.

The Random leek has to be one of my favorite in the Leek series. The S30V blur is no slouch either. Depends on what you're doing. Long periods of cutting, pants/jeans carry - Blur. Quick, fast, tasks, and summer/shorts carry -- Leek.

Definitely the Blur for heavier use...plus as Bob says, with the Trac inserts, you have a better grip..

I kinda like the leek as my "sunday go to meeting" knife :D

i will eventually buy both knives ... i own a tini lek already but the pointy bladeshape is impractical and i figured the randoms tanto would fix that.. i curently edc a mini ritter grip and held a s30v blur and felt very similar about it... its pretty much a matter of which one do i get first... maybe the random since its almost shorts weather (actually is already in FL)

The Random Leek in S30V with partial serrations zips through cardboard like it's not even there. The serrations cut through the cardboard just as easily as the plain edge portion. The plain edge portion has a very thin grind though so you have to be super careful of any staples that you may come in contact with. That said, I'm also a big fan of the Blur and enjoy carrying both very much. It's a tough decision, but for constant use you have to think about the handle. I'd much prefer the handle on the Blur for extended use. So if you're cutting up a box or two I would say go with the Leek, but if you are going to be cutting a ton of boxes then I would say go with the Blur.

maybe i should flip a coin :) both are very similar in price...in the $70-80 price range with shipping (cant seem to find better) i am loving the thumbstud on the blur :)

RL is disco'd for 2012 if that makes a difference to you. Not sure how many more, if any we will be making throughout the rest of the year.

I'd go with the blur especially in S30V there's not one thing wrong with the leek but I've always thought the blade was a bit to narrow and for general edc usage I'd prefer the wider blade of the blur.

im pretty sold on the s30v blur... anyone else have a recommendation close to that or a mini ritter grip??? no spydercos or bucks plz i own many of both..gonna be a medium use edc jack of all trades type knife

Of course, you lose out on the S30V, but it is tough to go wrong with a R.A.M.

A compromise between the size and shape of the Blur and the Leek might be the Speedform II. And it has an Elmax blade and 3D machined G10 (a little bit more expensive though).

Deffinately the S30V blur. Just an extremely well mad folder and an awesome value for what you get IMO. Its become one of my all time favorites.

Not a huge fan of the tanto look myself, although the reverse tanto isn't as bad, I still like the blur better.

1 more vote for the Blur. Probobly my favorite knife. S30v Sweet !! The leek is kinda dainty for my liking as a EDC.
