Ive read in blade that soon a number of spydies including (of course)the military will be available in S30v.I'm seeing a growing number of other companies doing this to all their knives, please don't.
A few of course will be welcome upgrades to say 440V models, especially the Chinook(personal pref.).I haven't tried S30V yet and needless to say I'm anxious.
Thank you

I am curious to know when s30V will appear in Spyderco knives, so bttt
But I don't understand your question, you DON'T want Spyderco to upgrade to S30V?! In premium models it should make little if any cost difference, it is fairly affordable relative to other premium steels.

I would be interested in how S30V did during Spyderco's extensive testing.

S30V and VG10, which one is better?

My guess is that VG-10 is the "best" stainless cutlery steel being produced in Japan, while S30V may be the "best" stainless cutlery steel made in the US (keeping in mind that true cutlery steels are a rare thing).

I think there are also some innovate steels coming out of europe that are being tested.

Shootist. S30V did well in edge retention certainly in the range with S60V and BG-42. It's out at Q-fog now.

We do not yet have a way to measure toughness, but Crucible's Charpy testing indicated a more than acceptable range of toughness for knives.

I've been carrying a Native FRN with S30V and the "field testing" has not disappointed in any way.

Thats good to hear. From everything I have seen S30V looks promising.
