S30V not polishing out

I have recently ground some knives out of S30V. I used up to a 1200 grit Aluminum Oxide rubbing compound and still get a milky/cloudy finish. Has anyone ran into this/found a better way?

One reason Chris Reeve went from S30V to S35VN is that it was too difficult to get a high polish ! CPM 154 would be a better choice for high polish.

Word around the campfire is that S30V and S35VN will not take a decent mirror polish. You will get a cloudy finish -if you can get all the scratches out!

I would recommend a hand rubbed finish.

s35vn takes an amazing polish so easily. s30v however will not.
