:D :D OK this is has really gotten out of hand.

1. I ordered .090" s30v from CM
2. 2 weeks later I find they lost the order
3. 3 weeks later the steel arrives at .130" (saving that)
4. I order more 1/8" from Admiral
5. 1 week later arrives
6. Friend offers to grind it at work
7. he gives it to machine shop
8. 3 weeks later friend finds out it got ground to .020" (never got it back)

That much I mentioned in another post. But the story goes on.

Turns out Friend is a big wig at a very large company. The machine shop panics and tells the boss they will replace it in 24 hours. They contact their steel supplier, who agrees to hurry and hand deliver from 3 hours away.

However, S30V isn't really on the shelf is it. So the distributer panics because Friend is a major customer. They contact someone in TX (CM I assume) and ask to get it overnighted. CM finally gets around to shipping it, but sends it ground. When distributer calls to see what happened, they panic some more. So CM agrees to send more out overnight express.

Somehow the owner of the distributer gets his hands on it and has it at home - which is a 3+ hour drive. He got up early this morning to deliver it to friends house.

Of course I have no idea what is going on, so I ordered more from Admiral today.

Friend calls me and tells the story, and that he is going to drive to work early tomorrow (Sat.) and the machine shop guy will be standing by to re-surface it. He'll bring it over tomorrow afternoon.

So now I'll have 3' of .130, 6' of .020, 6' of .090, 6' coming from admiral, and 6' more coming from CM.

And all this for one 4" paring knife ordered in July.

looks like you will be making more than the one paring knife. :D besides its better than not having it!

The way I grind, it might TAKE twenty one feet of steel to get a four-inch knife!

Its good stuff...........but I sure wouldnt waste precision ground stock on a stiff knife, you should sell it to a folder maker.

I've had a few order problems with Crucible. They too lost an order once. Seems it was never even entered into the computer. Nonetheless, I still order. Bruce has always given me excellent customer service, that is why I continue to order. Otherwise I would be buying from Admiral, which does not offer the same customer service. Not even a long shot. However, I do know one guy who has had horrible problems with ordering through Crucible. Pretty bad actually. Suprising to say the least.
