I have noticed on my knives with S30V steel that the blades pick up fingerprints very easy, and these prints tend to have a yellow discoloration to them, when you go to wipe them off it takes quite a bit of rubbing to remove them. I have cleaned the blades with gunscruber, Flitz and oils but still does the same thing, is this a normal property of this steel? or just this manufacturers coating on them? These knives all seem to be just polished steel no coatings though. I don’t see this as a problem with the knives I’m just curious as to why.

Some knife makers said that the blocks of S30V they recieved had a yellow-ish grime all over them.

It might be the drawback to using S30V.
I mean, this steel is too good to be true. - It's superior to all other stainless steels in every test, and is tough enough to chop with.

I haven't noticed that on mine. What are the knives you are seeing this on, and are they all the same type of finish?

What grit finish is on the blades? Who made them? Heat treater (the maker or out-source)? If you had a pic of the blade I may be able to answer your question better.

Try a Boron Carbide (BC1) coated blade. It's amazing. The only thing that will make my Benchmade 941BC1 LE blade look new again is GooGone.

The finish is cool on a user, but shows every fingerprint.

Yep have a BC1 coated knife, and it does show prints, but thats not what im getting at, this knife looks to be just a polished steel finish nothing else, and its a BM and they are all like this that I have seen, like I said I dont think nothing is wrong with the knife I was just wondering if this is one of the properties of S30V steel, the yellowish fingerprints.
