Round one goes to a Spyderco UKPK who was able to force the flesh into submission with one swift slice. Actually you would think a grown man would know better than to use his hand as a cutting board but I guess some of us are hard headed. Just too bad we aren't hard fingered:)

My index after six stitches:(

Angled cut that hung open so doc stitched the cut and the meat below it

It happens, I just hope your not left handed. But you do have clean finger nails.

Yikes! i suggest you don't do that again.....in any sort of frequency it could be bad for your health! :D

never really cut myself tooooo much with any knife... but my Native bit my pinky (closing it) like three times in the first week of owning it! ...nothing like yours though!!

Wonder if the finger would have come off with VG10? :D (Just think, had you been using 440c it would probably never have happened :p)

Just reminds me... I haven't practiced suturing latex gloves for awhile. Need to remember how to tie square knots with one hand.

Ouch! Looks painful...

Looking at the pic a bit more closely, your index finger looks a bit crooked. The doc didn't sew things back at an angle, did he?

Just kidding, of course. Heal quickly and hope you use a cutting board next time. :)
BTW - did something similar ~10 years ago with a Vic paring knife while cutting parmesan cheese. Sunk that blade into the end knuckle of my left index finger. Still have that crescent-shaped scar and on occasion, that scar still gets the 'prickly itches'...

Doggone S30V. Dangerous stuff. Stuff oughta be banned.

:D

Just kidding...actually, you've been initiated.

At least you didn't have a kid standing there, who looks at you and asks, "Daddy, did you mean to do that?"

thx - cpr

I got the scar, but the stitches are long gone. Just rest assured that 12C27 does just as good a job.

:D +1 , I had that more times than I care to remember

Wound looks clean enough... bet you'll have mis-matched wrinkles for the rest of your life! ;)

Carbon steel for me!
If I hold my thumbs together, there is a perfect "V" scar I got from separate knife foolery incidents. First time cut myself clean to the bone, wasn't satisfied so I had to cut the other thumb a few years later. Sometimes I think we have bones in our fingers so we don't go lopping them off so easily!

Nice. I nearly cut the tip off (managed a nice fillet cut) my right thumb with my new Spyderco Sage so I can attest to the Spyder's thirst with that factory S30V blade.

Nice wound BTW.
