s30v versus s35vn

This has probably been discussed, I did search but only found one thread regarding Spyderco knives.

I'm looking at a trade for a large Insingo and just realized that it's done in s30v. I have some experience with the steel, but my only CRK experience has been with s35vn.

Can you guys tell me which you prefer and why? What differences have you noticed about sharpening? Can I put a slightly more acute edge on an s30v blade?

Also, from a desirability standpoint, would you be more or less inclined to buy or trade for a Sebenza using s30v?

My gut tells me that I prefer s30v anyway, but I'd like to hear from the experts.

Thanks! :)

So I've noticed (obviously) that no one has replied to my question. :) That could be for many reasons, but I wanted to make something clear.

I'm a huge CRK fan. I've only owned one Sebenza, but like many others, that knife was a sort of revelation for me in terms of what a knife can and should be.

I'm not looking for a s35vn bashing, but if you have an opinion, I'd like to know how CRK s30v has worked out for you.

I'll find out soon enough for myself as I solidified a trade deal for a large Classic Micarta inlay! I'm so stoked to have a Sebbie again, I was honestly a little depressed without one. First world problems, I know... Still, I truly feel blessed to have a luxury item like these knives. My plan is to check it out for a while then send it to a friend here on the boards that hasn't seen one before.

It's not the Insingo that I wanted, but it's just as nice, or nicer in its own way. Okay I'm done gushing. :)

I'm sure there's many heated, detailed, subjective, bullcrap, researched threads on this subject.
Generally it is said that s30v was good but a little chippy and hard to machine.
s35vn was meant to be a little tougher, a little easier to machine with only a slight decrease in wear resistance.

Both are so similar that I doubt most can notice any difference.

+1
I S30V has very slightly better edge retention, S35VN is slightly tougher and easier to sharpen, but all three qualities probably won't be noticeable because they're so similar.

I started a thread with my thoughts on all the blade steels used in the sebenza

Yes...there were $h!7storms here and at Spyderco Forums on this topic. It seems mostly to generate absurd amounts of heat but very little light. Nyemaker's thread is a nice summary. :)
