S35VN is a nice steel, without a doubt, but I like M4 even more.

Like the others said, "yes, it is a Crucible Powder Metallurgy alloy".

I find it to be about equal to S30V in edge retention.
This is noticeably better than 154CM, but noticeably not as good as Bohler M390

I have to spartan blades is s35vn and it is very easy of me to get it to hair shaving sharpness on all three rods on my spyderco sharpmaker, and of course I strop I. Brkt white compound and then a unloaded leather hone.
