a neighbor passed away recently and as his kids were cleaning out the house i was shown a pile of stuff for charity and was asked if i saw anything i liked. the one thing i took was a folding camp type saw that says it was made in taiwan out of sk4 steel still in the original package. how many types of sk steels are there and is sk4 a decent steel?

As far as I know there's one JIS SK4 steel. High carbon, water hardening tool steel, it'll be very decent in a knife if HTed properly. Other than that, there's plenty of SK steels, starting with simpler SK(N) cabron steels and ending with high speed SKH stuff, here - Steels names starting with SK
