I was just looking through the CRK website and I noticed that when looking at the page for the mnandi and umnumzaan, they show that the rc for the blade is 60-62 but the cards show that the hrc is 61-62. Does anyone know if this is just a typo on the website or do they now have a bigger margin of error on their blade hrc?

Sounds like a great question to take directly to the source and then let the rest of us know.

good reply I found this about s45vn it’s not necessarily “ harder rc just slightly tweaked “
“”The key to a great knife is, obviously the steel. We enjoy a vast array of knife steels today. From yesterday’s carbon steels have come today’s stainless and “super” stainless steels. The average knife customer isn’t concerned as much with the type of steel as they are with the look, the usefulness, and more importantly, the price. It is with keeping that in mind that when we, the “knife junkies” look at the knives currently using the latest iconic stainless steels””
CRK wants to sell product so a tweak means sales , as most people buy and never work / use a CRK due to the cost , I doubt many folks could tell a difference except for the stamp on the blade between the S35v & s45v
I would call and ask about the 1.5 +/- in rc to quell the curiosity
As I would like to know how many bags of ready mix concrete +/- it will open

Actually, I’ve discussed S45VN with a maker by the name of Big Chris. Years ago, he didn’t think highly of S35VN. Today h makes knives using it. He also spoke highly of S45VN, so maybe CRK is heading in the right direction.
A couple weeks ago, I busted 8 bags of ready mix using a 25 without any issues and didn’t need to sharpen it.
When the S45VN blades start rolling out, I’ll have one. I’ll report back to see if there’s a difference. I’m thinking there will be a noticeable change, good or bad is yet to be seen.
While it’s true that there’s a portion of CRK’s that are safe queens, I’d bet there’s more being used than collected.

I would agree completely!
