  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I just bought a Medford knife in S45VN steel. It was not very sharp to be new. I brought out the diamond stone and it seem like they would hardly touch this steel. Is S45VN that hard to sharpen? Boy, he must really run then a high RH. I colored the edge with a sharpie and the stones are removing the mark. It is the hardest steel I have tried to sharpen.

You are probably sharpening ok , s45 does not form much of a noticeable burr

I just got a new Spartan Blades Pallas with S45VN, 59-61 RHC. Sharpness out of the box was in the BESS 300 to 400 range. The bevel is 24 degrees on one side, 28 on the other. Starting on the 24 degree side, I set the TSProf Kadet to 24 degrees. Using the 150 grit TSProf plate, it took about 3 minutes to get a burr along the straight part of the blade.
