This is the test knife for the S7 steel I'm going to start using. The HT went well so this is a steel that I will add to my list of steels I'll be working with. 3/16" thick by 1 1/4" wide, convex grind. Handle is 4 1/2" with curly maple scales, N/S pins and brass lined lanyard hole. Thanks for looking

Another nice one,Scott.I believe you do your own heat treat now.Is that right? Love them convex grinds!

Scott nice as always:thumbup:
Mate if you don't mind me asking why the change in steel? Or are you just broadening your choice of steels for customers.
Thanks for sharing

Leatherbird, yes I do my own HT. As a matter of fact, I do everything inhouse (literally:D ) from profiling and grinding, HTing and all the leather work. No more outsourcing.:D
Mitch, I wanted to add another tool steel, so now it's D2, A2, S7 and I'm limiting 5160 to large camp knives unless someone wants a 1/4" hunting knife in 5160. Thanks guys.;)

I havent heard of S7 steel. What is it, carbon or stainless. Where do you get it, how do you heat treat it, and what are the benefits over other steels.

nevermind. I used the search on the forums and found all the info I need.
