First I wanted to say thank you to everyone who posts here on the forum. Sharing your information, giving encouragement and leading a hand when you can would just be the start of a list of the good things that many of you do. I do not think that thanks is said enough. I would not have even started out trying to make a knife much less finish one if it hadn't been for this forum. It is a poor pic but I will get my brothers camera and get some better ones (I couldn't wait sorry). One thing that I learned making this knife that is often said to folks just starting out is "start with a smaller blade", well I will say that is great advice and I wish that I would have followed it. Most of this knife was done on a 1"x30" Delta sander and finished up on a 2"X36" Multitool. The heat treatment was done by Roger Linger (many thanks Roger). Any comment welcome but try to be kind ;). Thanks for looking. Here are the stats

S7 Steel
14.5 inches total
1/4 inch thick with alot of distal taper
Convex grind
micarta scales (started out with Bloodwood but messed that up!)
57 Rc (which gives 125ft-lbs on the Charpy C-Notch)
Hand rubbed 600 grit finish

I don't think I need to be kind Mark. It's a good knife. Good design, good lines, you may have gone a little overboard with the convex grind but that's easy to do and yours isn't bad at all.

Overall I'd Say it is a darn nice knife, a good user and a definite well done for the first one.

Time to start the next one.

I can attest that the picture does not do it justice and that it makes the convex look deeper at the spine than it really is. I was exceptionally impressed with the grind especially because it was a first and done on the equipement Mark used. YES, we need a better picture Mark. I am proud of this one too Mark. I think you got a real chopper there. Send more. I love good craftsmanship.

It looks mean. I like that. :) Seriously, that looks like a tough, sharp, no nonsense blade (I especially like the cho). Great job!

Looks good, should be a real chopper, and definatly looks a lot better than my first couple dozen or so!

Very nice.
I always start off with a large knife that way if I screw up i just make it smaller.
I make a lot of SMALL knives.
Keep up the good work.

A couple of slightly better pics. I have chopped a couple of things with it and so far so good.
