hey guys just wondering if any of u guys have any experience with S7 steel, and is there any makers that use this steel?

Mick Strider made me a "crash ax" and used S7 for the bits. It's a very tough alloy, but it also seems to resist being deformed from impacts. It seems to form good bits, but I'm not sure it would be all that satisfactory for a cutting edge.

My Dogfather would disagree with you. Dan Busse knows how to get the most out of S7 and the Dogfather is the proof.

I dont know about using it for a blade but it makes a good tool material. Its relatively easy to heat treat but has to be coated, black oxided or gun blued to slow down rust. It is supposed to be a great tool material for withstanding impact and also in the class of 'shock resistant steels". As with all metals that are heat treated the tempering is very important.
