Very informative article. I have a few pieces of these steels left over from the toughness testing, and Chuck has sent me a few pieces to experiment with. I’m not getting much shop time this fall, but have a few blanks cut out. I think I prefer the non stainless vanadium steels, but options are nice.

Good stuff. These alloys are not for everybody, makers or users. They are great options for high wear resistant steels.

I’ve never heard a knife maker say that he makes a poor performing knife but I know they’re out there.

Those that master using these high end steels will be rewarded.

Phil Wilson is the first person that comes to mind with these steels. I remember reading about Rc65/67 knives a few years back, and thought “no way.” I am now a convert.
