Hello Guys

I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be possible to convert an S90V millie from liner to framelock simply by purchasing a Ti Military and swapping out parts?

I would assume since blade stock is the same, that the place where the lockbar on the linerlock would be the same thickness as the Ti Millie and therefore would be able to accommodate the framelock?

anyways just random thoughts if anyone has an opinion let me know!

I believe it is possible, but in my opinion, it is a bad idea. There is no guarantee the parts will interchance perfectly, no guarantee the lock will be safe. The only guarantee is that you will void the warranty on both knives.

I did it with a Ti Military and Carbon Fiber/BG-42 millie. I didn't like the weight of the Ti Military and the fact that it wasn't as grippy as G-10 of CF.

I've now got a Ti/Carbon fiber framelock with s30v blade and a Ti/linerlock millie with BG42 blade. The Framelock one went together much better as I could pick and choose which parts went into it. It centered perfectly and the lock it very solid. Although it might be ok I don't think I'd recommend separating the lock from the blade if you were going to do so, which, it sounds like you're planning. I would have preferred the BG-42 blade on the framelock but that lock wasn't built with that blade so it seems that you'd be prone to problems. The Ti/linerlock isn't perfectly centered but is smooth and locks up solid. The lanyard hole didn't fit well on this one and took some pounding to get in place which dinged up the piece a bit. Cosmetic only really but noticable.

I don't plan on selling these knives, nor could I without losing my ass I'd imagine. The Ti/CF combo is fantastic though

so basically i need to keep the s30v blade with the Ti Framelock to ensure that the lockup would be correct

however, it would be possible to interchance the ti scale with the CF one? I think i see what you mean

anyways, i will be thinking about what to do....may just have a custom framelock made for it, as that seems to be the very best option imo.

If this works at all, I would expect that you would have to keep the lockbar-side Ti scale with its original blade. So, if it works, you'd replace the off-side Ti scale with the G10 scale and its partial liner. I think STR has done things like this on a custom basis - you might check his forum here.

I performed this operation with an S90V blade in a Ti handle and also an S60V blade in a Ti handle. I was going to make a hybrid with a Ti/CF handle and an S90V blade, but the weight savings (22 Gm.) wasn't worth the trouble IMO.
