S90V or D2??

D2 or S90V

What do you have to sharpen it on? Of the two, I prefer the S90V, but I have a full set of diamond hones to sharpen the insane volume of vanadium carbide in the steel. On the other hand, the D2 can be had for a lot less money, and unless you really beat them up, it's pretty hard to tell the difference in the steel...until sharpening time.

You can always go with my solution ;)

i like S90V better but I have voted for D2 because i don't think they'll be available for a long time and the price is real good

S90V. And Yab---Is that some kind of Military art work? You Ar-teest you!

That's the Milliewheel. ;) Clockwise from the top: 440V, CPM D2, S90V, BG-42, S30V, ATS-34. As far as I know, one of each steel used so far. :D

Yab---That's awesome! Thanks for the art show. I know that piece of art-work is not for sale! I'm might have to look at the Millies again.

I picked D2 because it is about half the price of S90V.
If they were the same price S90V would be my choice.

Im thinking D2 as my S30V is a bear to sharpen and S90V can only be worse with so many more carbides. On the other hand I do eventually get D2 dull and the S30V seems to hold its edge much longer. Your choice, but if I was away from civilization (and my lansky) more often I would choose D2.

The D2 should hold a excellent edge that will pop back after use with little help with little work, not so with S90V.

The only other thing I can think of is saltwater and price. If you work near, with, or in an ocean you might want to consider something else besides D2. As for price, I dont know, I am a southpaw and dont really care for the Military design.
