S90V Verses D-2

I have an opportunity to purchase either a Spyderco in S90V or a Bob Dozier in D-2 to add to my collection.

I am curious as to which of these two do you think would hold an edge longer?

I know there are a lot of variables. And it depends on a lot of different things (what I am cutting, edge grind, etc.)

But, in general, which is basically a better edge holding steel?

I love Spyderco's...Sal and the gang do some incredible work. That being said, Bob Dozier is THE master of making D2 perform. Bob's knives outlast and outperform anything else I have ever used (or seen/heard of) in the field. My Yukon Pro Skinner (more than 10 years since it was new from Bob's shop) has lasted through gutting, skinning, and quartering five large northern Michigan (U.P.) white-tailed deer. Never saw any other knife come close.

In my experience, for what I do with my knives, S90V leaves D2 in the dust for edge holding.

I do not know about leaving in the dust or being somewhere tomorrow...
I just perform manila rope cutting tests and results are:

Dozier D2 is on 1st place.
CMP S90V is on 13th place for edge retention

Thanks, Vassili.

Everyone's uses are different, but if Vassili gets spectacular edge retention out of his Dozier, then it's gotta be good.
We know you can get some pretty crazy results with the right heat treat, so at this point I'd put it up to personal preference.

Note that a S90V Para 2 sprint is in the works, so if you want some of that stuff on what could be called one of the best folders ever, it's only a matter of time.
