Hmmm...... the description states that it is a ceramic stone. Their web pages state it can also be used as a contact sharpening stone for scissors and knives, so it should function as a ceramic stone. The "magic" slurry part involves putting soap or shaving cream on the stone before using it with a razor, basically as a lubricant. Sounds like it would work fine for sharpening knives, don't know how good it would work with razors.
