Here she is ready as a razor, the Sable III. She weighs in at 7oz compared to her big sister’s 10.5oz on my scale and comes with a 4”blade and a supreme sheath. I like the heft of this blade. It feels capable.

All the bad girls got together for an informal portrait by some collected rocks and Indian shards. They are a refined bunch but don’t be fooled by their good looks. These girls are wicked sharp and quick.

These aren’t society chicks by any means. They are not afraid to get dirty and work all day and they just love to go on adventure. They clean up real good when they are done with the necessary projects that surround me.

Notice how the Sable line is the closest in blade style to the Sebbie line of all the one piece knives that Chris Reeve makes.

nice pics! it's rare to see the different styles next to each other, for reference and aesthetics. nice captions too :)

Before tonight I hadn't known there were other Sable models in existance. But after a little Google research, I'd really like to get a Sable II (7"). Is this still orderable, or was it a limited edition? If so, how many were made, 50?

I think the Sable II would be an awesome blade. I do believe they still offer it. I also have the Sable IV and it is a fist full of A2. The smaller Sable III was very hard to find. I finally found it at Midwest Gun Exchange. The born date is Sep 23, 2002. I could not find it anywhere else in the world. Is this some kind of limited edition for Midwest Gun Exchange to sell?

This thing is a very capable outdoor/field knife. The smaller Sable III is for my extreme mountain dayhikes. Our mountains go straight up out here in Southern Arizona. Last weekend we did a 10.2 miles hike with an 8400' elevation change. It kicked our you know whats. I love this knife.

The 7" Sable II was discontinued back in June 1994 and we do not make them at all any longer. We don't make any of the 7 inch model one piece knives. All in all, we made only 115 Sable II (59 in South Africa and 56 in the USA). They were not a limited edition but, when we consolidated the line of fixed blade knives several years ago, we stopped making [among others] all the 7 inch models.

How about the Sable III Anne. Is it special for Midwest guns or is is sold elsewhere. I could only find one at Midwest and it was a new one. I don't see it on your webpage either. This is one awesome fixed blade and the size is perfect. Very stout, very tough but razor sharp. Keep up the outstanding blade work.

For as much as we try to keep things predictable and orderly, we sometimes have these little mavericks that float around and the Sable III (4" blade) is one such! I am not sure just why we have not included it as part of the regular offering but it can be specially ordered. It is supplied in the leather wrap-around style sheath only. Because the tip is slightly off-center, it can't go into the symetrical pancake or the snap style sheaths. It's a neat little knife and retails at $185.00 (plus s&h).

It comes off the same size blank as the Mountaineer I, the Aviator and the Shadow III - just differs in the blade style. It is one of the models that we stopped making in 1994/5 after rationalizing the range.

I like this little maverick! The pouch sheath is perfect for this blade, sort of following the scadanavian philosophy of being able to access your working blade quickly and easily. This is an excellent little fixed blade for the wilderness.
