Here is a 36 inch 56 ounce sabre made by Bura. I don't know much about sabres but this one looks like it has been made to do the job and I can't find anything wrong with them (I have two). You can tell more about the D guard by looking at the shadow. I know, Rob, I should diffuse the light but it's too much trouble. Handle is nicely engraved.

Nice looking and good fitting brown leather scabbard.

Price is the same as a katana -- $245 delivered to your door.

Call or email.

Awesome !!

Lovin' the variety coming out of HI from the Kamis - obviously more relaxed

How is the handle attached? Is it cast in place over a tang, soldered, or glued?

My best guess about the handle: Two part, right and left, that's been silver soldered together. Hollow, filled with Himalayan epoxy, full length tang peened over the disc at end. Guard has been welded with electric welder I'm almost sure and since we don't have this equipment at BirGorkha I think the work was farmed out and it's not too good -- worst feature of the entire rig -- needs to be smoothed and polished.

One gone.

Ooooh... Aaaah... :)

I wish I could justify owning one of these. Gotta save my money for more practical stuff (like rent).

Two gone. One blem left -- handle took heavy hit and broke loose the bottom weld on the D guard. Art can fix it in five minutes. Fifty bucks off for Art and shipping. Call or email if you want the blem. It looks perfect other than the broken weld.

Bill's right about the welding work on the handle. Otherwise, mine's very pretty. And very BIG.

If anybody wants the blem I'll send it directly to Art for repair and he'll send it on to you. It will be better than new when Art gets thru with it. I'm sure glad we don't have to depend heavily on the Nepali welders. But in their defense I'll have to say they are welding with rigs that I'm scared to even touch.

Hey Uncle Bill,

Does the blade have any similarities with the HI Katanas?

Any chance of these sweet thangs becoming regular items? :D:D:D

Much Thanks

Yep, the welding is definitely a weak spot. Mine arrived with the end weld broken too.

Similar but considerably heavier. I doubt these will ever become a regular item.

What's heavier?

That's a pity they'll never be a regular item! :(:(:(

I have one left if you want it.

Yeah, well, my money status prohibits it! :(

But, what's actually heavier in comparison to the HI Katana?
